JourneyPlanner application released
We are proud to announce that the JourneyPlanner application developed by CaperWhite has been released on the AppStore and is now available for download. Hannover-based HaCon Ingenieurgesellschaft, a leading European vendor of transport planning and scheduling solutions, contracted CaperWhite to develop an iPhone client to deliver journey planning and timetable functionality as a front-end to HaCon’s HAFAS server solution.
The application now released delivers powerful client functionality to enable journey planning “on the go” for ad-hoc local public transport usage scenarios as well as conventional long distance travel planning. With the most advanced feature set available in the market today, consumers can plan their journeys, identify nearby stations, read departure timetables and obtain real-time information and walking maps on the go, providing fast and reliable answers to questions like:
- Which route requires the shortest walk from my current position?
- Which is the fastest connection to my destination?
- How do I reach my departure station by foot?
- When do I have to leave from here to reach the underground in time?
- When will the next tram depart?
The JourneyPlanner application is fully customizable in look and feel and data coverage and can be tailored to individual customers’ requirements.
The application has been released by HaCon initially for the Austrian market, in close collaboration with ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG, the Austrian railway corporation. The application is available as “ÖBB SCOTTY mobil”, ÖBB’s brand for its series of mobile journey planning applications, and covers national and international train routes as well as all Austrian local public transport schedules.
Additional markets are scheduled for release during the second half of 2009. CaperWhite continues to support HaCon in the execution of its product roadmap with additional functionality and feature upgrades planned for future releases.
